Creative Writing
Creative writing in the sense I'm using it is actually
the input portion of editing. My background in the creative end of
writing involves three
novels, a non-fiction
book, several hundred
poems and multiple
hundreds of personal opinion
columns and a more currently accessible current news commentary
blog.
The point is, capability aside, you or others needing
copywriting or editing are not likely to need creative writing in
any other sense than assurance that the talent is there.
Creativity comes into play in a major way while
- Bringing a sense of connection to an upcoming presentation
- Ghostwriting an article or book
- Humanizing (and making interesting) technical or academic text
- Polishing an essay or thesis
- Editing texts by non-native speakers
Once again, we're back to fit, something that can't be consistently
guaranteed by large firms who pass off your work to 'our staff of
qualified personnel.' The questions to ask, after looking over my
writing style or submitting a sample paragraph for editing, are;
- Does Jim Freeman fit the bill for getting my 'voice' right?
- Is he available for the task at hand?
- Will he be there when there's further work to do?
- Will we be comfortable in a working relationship together?

All we can do is find out. I'm ready if you are and,
if a long-term collaboration comes of it, we'll both be well served.
